Anchor ("we," "our," or "us") is a mobile application that helps you transform written intentions into personal visual symbols through a guided cognitive priming practice. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used when you use the Anchor app and anchorintentions.com (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We are committed to handling your data with transparency and respect.
We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the Service effectively. Below is a full inventory of what is collected and why.
| Data Type | Description & Purpose |
|---|---|
| Email address | Collected during account creation via Firebase Authentication. Used solely to identify your account, enable password recovery, and deliver important service communications. |
| Intention text | The written intentions you enter when creating an anchor (e.g., "I am a focused, decisive builder"). This text is processed by our AI system to generate your personal visual symbol. Intention text is stored in your account and is never publicly shared or used to train AI models. |
| Display name | An optional name you may provide for your profile. Not required to use the Service. |
| Data Type | Description & Purpose |
|---|---|
| Device information | Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers. Collected by Sentry for crash diagnostics and error monitoring. Used exclusively to identify and fix technical issues. |
| Crash reports & logs | Stack traces and error logs generated when the app experiences a technical failure. Collected by Sentry. Contains no intentional user content — only technical execution data. |
| App usage data | Session counts, feature interactions (e.g., forge completions, focus sessions), and engagement timing. Used to understand which features are working and improve the product. |
| Subscription status | Your subscription tier, trial status, and transaction identifiers. Managed by RevenueCat. We do not store full payment card information — all billing is handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. |
| IP address | Logged transiently during server requests for security and fraud prevention. Not stored long-term or linked to your profile. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, camera roll, microphone input, biometric data, or any information beyond what is listed above.
Anchor uses a small set of carefully chosen third-party services to operate. Each is listed below with a description of what data they receive and a link to their own privacy policy.
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase (Google) | Account authentication and identity management | Email address, authentication tokens, sign-in provider. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy. |
| Sentry | Crash reporting and application performance monitoring | Device info, OS version, anonymized stack traces. No intention text is transmitted to Sentry. |
| RevenueCat | Subscription and in-app purchase management | User ID, subscription status, transaction IDs. No payment card data. |
| Google Imagen / AI provider | Visual symbol generation from your intention text | Your intention text is submitted as a prompt to generate your anchor symbol. Prompts are processed under the AI provider's data processing terms and are not used to train public models. |
| Supabase | Application database and user data storage | All user account data, anchors, and session records are stored in our Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database, hosted in the United States. |
We use the data we collect for the following purposes only:
To provide the Service. Creating and managing your account, generating your anchor symbols, syncing your practice sessions across devices, and delivering subscription access.
To maintain reliability. Diagnosing crashes, monitoring performance, and fixing bugs using anonymized technical data.
To improve the product. Understanding aggregate usage patterns (e.g., which features are used most) to prioritize development. We analyze trends, not individuals.
To communicate with you. Sending transactional emails (e.g., password resets, subscription confirmations). We do not send unsolicited marketing without your explicit opt-in.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We do not use your data for behavioral advertising or build advertising profiles.
Your data is never sold to third parties. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
With service providers. The third-party services listed in Section 03, to the minimum extent necessary for them to perform their function.
For legal compliance. If required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority, we may disclose information as required. We will notify you unless legally prohibited.
In a business transfer. If Anchor is acquired or merged with another entity, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified in advance and given the option to delete your account.
We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete all associated personal data — including your email address, display name, anchors, and session history — within 30 days of your deletion request.
Anonymized, aggregate usage statistics (which cannot be linked back to you) may be retained indefinitely for product research purposes.
Crash logs held by Sentry are retained for 90 days and then automatically purged.
You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
Access. You may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Correction. You may update or correct your email address or display name through the app's settings at any time.
Deletion. You may request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data. Requests can be submitted through the in-app settings under Account → Delete Account, or by submitting a request at anchorintentions.com/delete-account.
Data portability. You may request an export of your anchor data in a machine-readable format.
Withdraw consent. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
For California residents (CCPA) and EU/UK residents (GDPR): you have additional rights including the right to know categories of data sold (we sell none), the right to opt out of sale (not applicable), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data: HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, encrypted storage via platform-native secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) for authentication tokens, and access controls limiting internal access to user data to a need-to-know basis.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Service is not directed at individuals under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at the address below and we will promptly delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you via the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
